As most of you know I got an angel for my 29g the other day. Yesterday when the lights went out (they are on a timer) but my room light was still on I noticed my angel was swimming at an angle like this /. In one of my books it mentions that if the light is not directly above them then they will turn so it is. If he was swimming away from the light then he would tilt back with his nose facing the surface. None of my other fish were doing this, only the angel. Has anyone else noticed this? This might be a stupid and pointless thread but I found it interesting and thought I would share.:D

fish can swim at an angle like u are saying if the light is not above them. i theorize that it is a survival skill because their defensive coloration works best with light overhead. it is more noticeable w/ angels because of their tall sleek bodies. having said that, to me it sounds like a something's "fishy". does he do it when the tank lights are on? is he active and eating well? angels prefer warm water around 80degrees, and they don't do well with water with high pH. i would keep a good eye on him.
good luck!

I know there is nothing wrong with him, I was just commenting on how he swims when the light is out. My water is always warm (an unfortunate side effect of living in arizona:rolleyes: ), usually around 82*. He swims normal and all over the tank when the lights are on. He also eats a lot of flakes and frozen bloodworms. Probably would over eat but I limit what I put in. Just thought it was interesting the way he swims.:) Got to go feed him right now!:p

He just ate a dime sized piece chunk of bloodworms in two bites! Grabbed half, slurped that down. Grabbed the other half, slurped that down! PIIIIIIIIGGGGGGG!:D

I must be more noticable in fish with vertical fins and bodies. Skirted tetra are similar in shape to angels.

Only me and Balance have noticed this? I though some people who have been keeping fish for years would have noticed.
