Angel with Betta?

I am moving my 9 fish to a much larger tank and want to add about 4 more fish, one possibly being an angel. Will an Angel and a Betta get along? Never had angels before so I know nothing about them.

The Betta will attack anything with long flowy fins. They see it as "competition." So in short, they wouldn't get along.

THere was a thread a little while back about the potential of angels and bettas to get along given neutral territory... that is, a tank where neither fish had been before. I just set up a brand new 75 with 7 angels and had a betta in a 5.5 so I figured I would try it just now - just for you!

The betta is back in his 5.5 gallon tank. While the tank should roughly be neutral territory, the angels have formed a "pack" and certainly acted like it. The betta flared and flared, but the angels acted like wolves and surrounded it. It may have worked itself out, but I like my fish intact, so I removed the betta before any nipping came along.

Then, after stressing my poor betta out, I fed him some bloodworms and shrimp.... sort of to make up for it.

So with a large comfortable group of angels it doesn't work... no idea about solitary specimens.

Thanks for the info... I'm gonna avoid it. Probably just get some more little tetras.

a female betta will be fine with angels..males...well thats up to the fish's personality

i have kept males with angels, and some dont do so well while others just ignore every other fish.
