Angelfish Stocking Question

I did some research and this is what I came up with:

Nickel size bodies ------- 1 angelfish per gallon
Quarter size bodies ------- 1 angelfish per 2 gallons
Silver dollar size bodies ------- 1 angelfish per 3 gallons
Stock ready to be paired ------- 1 angelfish per 5 gallons
Full grown breeding pair ------- 20 gallon tall

Do you guys agree with this?

What would be an appropriate amount for a 55 or 75 gal. tank?

I have heard people say 10g per adult angel. I have also heard people say that you should either keep one, a breeding pair or six. I would say that a 20g would be too small for a pair except when they're breeding. I would say 6 in a 75g would work well. I have a breeding pair in a 50g with other fish, and that works well (except that their eggs always get eaten).

I've heard and think 10gal per adult too. Just like discus.

And you'd be safer going with a 25gal breeding tank instead. But a 20gal high would work just for breeding.

i say 6 in a 55gal would work fine.

Different breeders use a lot of different size tanks for their angels...all sizes. So its kinda hard to really say a definte answer to is this right.

Tall tanks are waste of money IMO, because fish don't swim up and down. They swim side to side.

I think for 1 breeding pair of Angelfish, a 29 gallon tank i'm sure would work well

Thanks for the info guys....

At the moment, I am not really interested in breeding them (give me a year LOL). I just want a school of silver angels, at least 6 with some other fish. I want the angels to be the focal point of the tank.

The tankmates I was thinking of so far a few Rams and a couple of Pictus Cats...

Can you guys recommend any other good tankmates???

Hatchets supposedly make good tankmates. If you are going for a silver theme, they might work well.

I never seem to think a tank is complete without some kind of pleco. If you're going for a planted tank, SAEs might be a good idea. I guess otos are out if you go for the pictus.

Not sure about the rainbow shark. I guess it would probably work out.

One more stocking question

Provided that there is 1 angelfish for every 10 gallons of water, would a school of different size angelfish get along ?????

The reason why I am asking is if over a long period of time I end up with 6 full grown angelfish and 1 dies, can I replace him with a dime sized angelfish ???

I would say yes, to a certain degree. Can't be a larger difference in size.

From what i hear keeping Discus in schools with different sizes is not recommended because the older ones produce some hormone that keeps the smaller ones from developing/growing properly or to a full size. Could be the same with angels? I'm not sure on it.
