Angelfish with a cloudy eye

My angelfish has developed a cloudy eye. Its not protruding, but i can tell by the way that he's been acting that he can't see out of it. It looks like a cataract. Is this a treatable disease? Would melafix be something that would help it? I'm at a loss.

He's eating, and active. I actually didn't notice it right away, cause he always looks at me with his good eye. But a friend noticed tonight that there was something wrong with it

ok...i googled...i guess its a fungus. No one else is showing symptoms...should i still treat the whole tank, or put him in a hospital tank?

I'd say you can put him in a hospital tank (usually cheaper to medicate, if you have one set up). Melafix would probably work.

I have a QT tank set up for my otos, and I was planning on moving them to the 29 tomorrow...the otos are looking great, so I'll just do the move a day early, and turn the qt tank into a hospital tank.

So...the cloudiness is about gone...but his vision is still pretty sketchy...He's been in melafix/pimafix since the 13th...should i keep treating till his vision improves, or just until the cloudiness goes away?

If the cloudiness has cleared up, I'd stop treating, but maybe keep a very close eye on him (no pun intended) in case any kind of infection starts back up. I guess it's possible he won't regain his vision in that eye, but it's hard to say. Most fish do fine with only one working eye.

ya he does ok with the one eye...the hardest thing we have right now is him going for the reflection of food, instead of the actual food...but even that is getting better, and it won't refect as bad in the big tank. He'll go great with my blind dog LOL
