Alright I know pretty much nothing about angelfish. They are pretty fish and have been recomended them because of the tall tank i have. I would be interested in getting 1 or 2 when i totally redo my 45g and get rid of the horrible blue gravel. But i have noticed that my betta has slightly "shortened" fins, which means i have a few fin nippers. Im thinking its my bloodfins which are the biggest fish in my tank and are pretty nippy from what ive observed. So when I actually redo my tank would these fish be compatable :
21 Harlequins
5 Spotted Corys
6 Black Phantoms
2 Angelfish
1 Loach, not sure what kind but i saw a really cut one at the pet store and didnt catch the name and or pay much attention to it.
2-4 Blue Rams ?

How does that look? Is it compatable?

Thanks a ton, also any general info or experiences with Angelfish would be greatly appreciated.

21 rasboras!!!! i think you will have a minor problem here:

you have quite a few fish in your tank which requires a LOT of filtration, but angelfish dont like strong water current :( .

for some general stuff: (Pterophyllum scalare) they are a south american cichlid, relatively peaceful (except when spawning), hail from soft, acidic water but do not really need any specific water parameters to thrive--just clean water, appreciate vertically placed objects to adhere eggs to when spawning.

your fish combo sounds ok for a couple of angels, but i would thin out your rasbora population if i were you.

From what Ive observed on several angel fish they can be somewhat agressive (right as I glance in my tank and see the angel going after a gourami!) They're a really great fish to have though, mine doesnt really go after smaller fish just the larger ones, so you might be okay =)

No black phantoms arnt fin nippers, but they do seem to mess around with in their species but never do any serious damage. You may have black phantoms confused with Black Skirt Tetras, which in many articles or reviews ive read say they are fin nippers.

21 Harlequins, why would you suggest me to thin out this population? I wanted to try a big school to see if they actually will shoal.

Currently the tank has 2 Whisper filters on it, not sure what model. The tanks dimensions are 36", 24",12"long..
