Can I have 4 angelfish in a 10 gallon tank. I had a 26 gallon tank cycling but to my suprise and shock the rim fell off. Fortunately PETsMART gave me my money back. So now I have a 2.5 gal and a 10 gal. I am going to replace the 10 with a 20 gallon Xtra High. It would only be temporarily maybe a couple weeks or so.

If they are baby angels, like quarter size they would be fine for the time being.

Adult angels need 10 gallons per fish so thats a good way to estimate how much room you will need when they are grown.

I do have a current marble but he is bigger than a quater way bigger but he was one 3 months ago. Does anybody know how old that is? He's been there for quite a while (3 months). Do you think adding some of about the same size will make them fight?

Actually if they are all the same size, they will have a smaller chance of picking on one another. Most of the time If you have say, grow angels with babys the grown ones will naturally pick on the smaller ones. Even try to eat them. However, in my 45g, I have 1 grown vail and 4 other juv. angels. There was turmoil in the begging but now they are just fine. I think my grown angel is very passive.

So, your one marble angel is bigger then a quarter, what about the rest? Or do you not have the others yet?

I bought another silver angelfish with the marble at the same that lived in the same tank. Guess what the marble MURDERED it. I returned that one and got another one that is even bigger it got killed too. Now I'm listening to the rule either 1 per tank or 4 or more per tank. Right?

I don't think I've heard to keep angels in groups of one or four. They do need their space though (10G per angel is good), and like someone else just said...if you have more than one they should be the same size because the bigger ones will pick on the smaller ones.

I could swear that not 2 or 3 becuase the "king" will pick on the others. So the more like 4 or more the group wouldn't dominated by the boss. Some say 5 gallons of water per angel some say 10. Oh which one should I believe. I do have a friend who works at Aquarium Pharmeceuticals (We know as the Doc Welfish on the bottom) and he suggests 1 per 5 gallons. The funniest thing Tetra suggested four angelfish in a ten gallon??? So I was still thinking if four will do in an aquarium for just a little while??

Yes, I have had agression problems with 4 angels, they were all mature and when Angels mature they pair off, thats when you get a lot of fighting. they only way I have ever kept angels without any fighting is if there is only 1. But common, we all want more then 1 angel! My current setup with angels is stated above, Since they are stil juv. I'm waiting to see how things work out.

^Yes, condsidering them juveniles 4 in a 20 would be fine, but eventually they will need more room. They will inevitably pair off and the pair with battle endlessly with the others.

It is also good that it is a tall tank, and angels dorsal fin will stunt and either turn down or get real thick (the boofont hair doo I like to call it) if the fish doesn't have room to grow in it's early stages.

i wouldnt keep the 4 angels in a 20, yes they will get along for now but angels grow fast and will quickly become alot meaner, this happened in my tank, my 2 angels went for 6 months when small perfectly fine until one day one start ripping the other one up, even in a 3ft tank he was beat up badly so i sold him

Sorry I was refering to Steve-O. The tv thing was was shown....??? I forgot but there was such a huge controverse over this section of the show that there was a large thread created for fishkeepers complaining. One even had a movie of it. If you find it Tetra says a 5 gallon tank would be well for 4 or so fish. The tank is a saltwater tank.
