my betta "big red" swims around flaring a lot and there are no other bettas or gouramis that he can see around him.... does he jus like doin that or is there a problem?
Probably sees his reflection in the sides of the tank. If the tank light is on, and the room is dark, it increases the reflection on the inside of the tank.
Its normal, turn the tank light off and see if he stops.
