the fish slowly loose weight and become thinner and thinner untill eventually they die .
have tried bacterial and fungal shop bought treatment but no luck!
the platies show no other signs of illness and none of my other fish show any signs of this disease.
it has been affecting my fish for several months now and i dont know what it is or how to treat it.
i am curently in the process of moving house and they are in a tempory tank at the moment.
we have several genrations of platies now and its sad seeing them slowly waist away !
any suggestions?

First of all, what are your water conditions (Ph, nitrites, ammonia, temperature, etc.), what size tank, how many fish? the more data you give us the better chance we have of helping. You have used something for bacteria and fungus. What did you use.

It sounds like it could be an internal parasite.

its a brand new tank there in now think its 80 gal tank nitrates everythin is ok levels less than 0.01 stuff we used is king british make number 7 and the fungual control is the same make.
preivous tank was over 5 foot long with stable water quality but we slowly taking that apart to move so there in a new tank that has not been used for treatment at all.
we did have strange white barnacle looking things grow on our bog wood in the preivious tank tho we have not allowed this in the new tank. at the mo they are about 25 fish in the brand new tank but this will be only tempry untill the big tanks set up again.could the white barnacle things have something to do with it?
what the best way of getting rid of internal parasites?
