If I go with a 20 gallon long, is it better to have 2 filters...one at each end?

depends on what filter u are running and on your decorations for the most part. if you run an under gravel filter of course you will only need one. in my 55 gallon I was running only one untill I got a big piece of driftwood. then I had no water movement ont the far end and had to buy another one. it all depends on how the tank is set up and on your filter you plan on using

i have just one aquaclear on mine. it's the one rated for 30 gallon tanks. it doesnt give as much flow as i'd like, but it is adequate for what i have in there. it's basically positioned right in the middle of it on the back
