After diagnosing a handful of the fish in my 90g with roundworm today, I look into my 40g and notice that my male Swordtail had something wrong with it. I'm hoping someone can help me diagnose him...

At first it looked like Ich to me, but then I realized that the spots were sized like large grains of salt. Then I thought that maybe it was drospy and the whiteness was coming from stretched skin, but that wasn't the case either. He has a load of fuzzy looking large-grain-of-salt sized white spots on his body, so I'm assuming it's fungus... any ideas?

I checked all the other fish very carefully and see nothing on them. Sick boy is in QT right now. What should I treat him with?

Thanks

Lol, I know xD It's ridiculous! I never had a sick fish until I got my CLs and they had a light case of Ich. No more than a month later, I have two large scale Ich outbreaks, then roundworm, and now this!

Must be the swamp water...

I know you have started quarantining (best thing you can do), but are you being careful about cleaning nets and equipment when you go from tank to tank?

Having said that, livebearers do seem suceptible to various bacterial diseases. I don't know if it's the farm breeding, or just something with the constant breeding, but I have found they get mild bacterial "fluff" more often than other fish. I have noticed my second/third generation fish are much stronger than the ones I have bought, though. :)

Good luck with the treatment.

I do use the same net for all the tanks, but I'm very careful to wash them really well after each use.

I hope my littles ones are stronger than their parents... my original male Platy is looking a little aged right now, but my mama Platy is still going strong. Maybe it is something with live bearers...

Oh well, thanks again :)
