Anyone have any success with the System 1 Diatom Pressure Filter?

Has anyone here had any success with the Aquarium Products System 1 Diatom Pressure Filter?
How often should I use a diatom filter?

Diatom filters are good for polishing water. They can also be used to filter out algae (green water) and free-swimming protozoans such as ich. I have an old Vortex that was given to me when I bought a used setup a few years ago, but have never used it.

I was browsing another forum recently, and ran across this:
