ive been told its a cold water algae eater but dont know its name so cant get any info on it??????

I agree on the ID also. Ironicly, the fish is not from China, nor does eat much algae after it gets about 3" or so.

yeah I have kept them. don't care for them much they get big and aggressive. (have 2 left in my tanks that if i could catch i would re-home)

this was a Chinese Algae Eater and thank you for your help it very angry tho dont like it at all

They can be very aggressive to other fish, sucking their slime coats off. Not a top recommendation for a community tank, that's for sure.

They are terrible fish....for the reasons everyone has already said.
It's funny almost every fish keeper has had one at one point usually when they are starting out in the hobby. That is what happened to me.

Yeah I bought a pair for each tank thought they were ottos (that's how they were labeled) I have caught all but two... I hate them and am going to have to do a full break down to actually catch them.

Yup, I had two myself at one point and had to remove almost everything from my tank to catch them! Irritating fish.

yeah have you seen the slate stack monstrosities in my tank.... I hate breaking it down takes hours to get it right again.

I wish one of my jerk fish would just eat them... Seriously they will beat any fish I really like to heck but fish I would just as soon flush (not really going to flush but you know) ... they live forever...

And they're quick . . . and smart . . . too bad they are also awful.
Even with the tank almost bare, I couldn't catch my last CAE without freaking out the other fish, he was so damn fast. I would try to catch him on a regular basis after that, and he got so used to it he would bolt from the front of the tank the minute the net hit the surface of the water. I had to re-condition him over several weeks by just putting the net in the tank and doing nothing. Finally caught the sucker (lol). Wahaha, outsmarted a fish, ftw. *laughingc
