Yo YO! I purchased a 29G tank setup from a buddy of mine and he had an UNUSED API master SALTWATER test kit. I purchased the API FRESHWATER test kit and wondered if there is just a difference in time for the various tests or if the actual reagents in the bottles are indeed different? I am asking because I want to know if I can use the reagents from SALTWATER test kit when my FRESHWATER reagents are empty. THANKS FOR THE INFO! *thumbsups

i think that they are the same. The only difference is some of the charted colors, but i tested this out with my sw and freshwater tanks i bought some extra tubes from the store and did 8 tests on both tanks with the 2 different kits and all results were the same. so i think with the exception of having to keep the color charts from the fw kit, you are good to go

See, that is exactly what I had thought would be the case. The bottles have the exact same labels and since the only difference beween the types of water is salt content (trace elements, calcium, ph, etc wouldn't effect ammonia levels).

Any other opinions?...
