aquaclear 20's w/ saltwater?

hey out of curiosity: im cycling a 10g freshwater tank with dual aquaclear 20's...

i swapped out the carbon for an extra sponge, so all the filters have in them are double sponges, for quadruple the bio filtration

can i swap it to salt water??? will the aquaclears provide everything needed for saltwater filtration???

No in saltwater you use live rock to provide your biological filtration. The aquaclears can be used to run carbon and just for flow purposes....in a 10g you don't need a protein skimmer but you would need to do frequent water changes, much more frequent than in freshwater

Also remove the sponges, as they are definite nitrate catchers / generators.

I run an AC20 in my 10g. No media is used. It will provide good flow for the top portion of your tank.
