Is it possible to produce a slow current on the bottom of a 40G aquarium?

How would I go about it?

You could always use a small powerhead with a hose extended to the botton of your tank. You can then T it off and have two outputs to give you a wider current.

Hey velvet acid, i've got a large canister filter at home which if i wanted to, could lay down the outflow pipe on the bottom producing a bottom current. The filter is called "via aqua 730"

Well, it would seem that a filter on the back of a tank would only mix up the water at the back.

I'm getting (or trying to get) a small herd of albino Khuli loaches, and I figure that if I got some type of a setup where there would be a current along the bottom of the aquarium, more oxygen would get into the hiding spaces that I'm constructing in the rocks. And overall, who wouldn't like to surf along a current once in awhile?
