Hi all, I'm going to get some PVC pipe and wanted to attach some gravel to particular locations...and also a flat rock on top to make a 'ledge'. I want to make sure and use the correct type of 'glue' to attach the gravel/rock to the PVC pipe.

Any specific products that someone could suggest? Would these products be available at Lowe's/Home Depot, or should I go to Petco (the only petstore nearby)?

Thanks all !!!

ps...freshwater tank, if that makes a difference. :)

I checked out some online stores (Big Al's and Drs. Fosters/Smith) and it looks like I'll be ordering from one of them, since they have better selections and prices than my LFS.

I saw the silicone sealants and epoxy products...so I answered my own question, at least partially. Would the silicone sealants work like glue, or do I need to stick with the epoxy for adhesive functions? It sounds like the silicone is more for sealing cracks in tanks (like caulking in bathrooms/kitchens) and not so much for adhesion. Is this correct?

Any preferences between epoxy sticks and the epoxy glue (two liquids mix together)?

Thanks again!!

Silicone is what you want to use for this. I've put sand on PVC many times with silicone and it looks great. It will more than likley take several layers to get it there, but it's worth it.

If ever in doubt, only use something that says 'Safe for Aquariums'. That's the rule. Now that you know the rule, time to break it.

I've used GE Silicone I for Doors and Windows on several things with no ill effects. What you really want to look for in a silicone is that it's 100% silicone, and that it does not have any anti-mildew/mold additives. The anti-mildew stuff that they use is very toxic to fish. So stay away from the bathroom silicones.

Aquarium silicone is about $10 a tube. GE is about $3 a tube. And you can probably find the GE at Wal-mart, Lowes, Home Depot...
