Can a 55 gallon aquarium be hanging off a stand at all? I have it in the middle of my room near a wall on a piano chair looking stand and it is hanging off on either side about 6 inches. I was using it for my snakes but I no longer have any so I was looking to either get fish or a caiman. The tank is not sitting on the glass, it is sitting on the wooden looking part but it is hanging off on either side. Is this ok or will it break when or if I fill it with water?

I really wouldn't trust it. Not at 6".
Something you might be able to look into is getting a piece of plywood and laying it on the table/bench and then use cement blocks/cinder blocks on either side as pillers to support it. Won't look nice but it might do the job.
I just wouldn't trust what you have now with water.
