Hello, Im getting a 50 gallon tank and dont know what to decorate it with. My origional plan was driftwood but then I read how it will decompose after about a year. I also herd that large rock figures put pressure cracks in the bottem of the tank. Then I was looking at sand but then I didnt know what it would do to the filter?

seems like you need to look at all types of tanks and see
wiht one seems better to you. some of MY favorites are
south american tanks wiht tetras, angels, discus, and plecos.
these usually havelots of plants and "root" looking driftwood
pieces. they are really colorful and full of live.

Asian biotopes are really kool too, they usually have pebbles
for substrate and skinnypieces of driftwood, as well as lots
of long plants, they usually have betta's and otehr asian
born fish.
you could also do a cichlid tank. but i know NOTHING about them,
hah :D
or maybe even a discus tank! those are always erally pretty,
but they requiere EXCELLENT water conditions and alot of plants.
ahah :D

good luck wiht your tank.

as long as you wash the sand first it shouldnt get in your filter much. Driftwood doesnt rot after a year... it only decomposes faster if you boil it first, so just do a normal soak. Also as long as you have enough substrate it will disperse the weight of any rock.
