im gonna get this for my little brother. i was wondering if i could fill it with saltwater and just get shrimp. he loves the fire shrimp so i was gonna get 1 or 2. let me know if this would work. i would keep the filter, put in sand (not live?) , some fake little corals, 2 or 3 pieces of live rock, etc. good?

Forgo the filter as it will taint the water very FAST. You can use the filter for flow but just be sure to not put any of the media in it to collect the detritus. With most of these nano's/Pico's all you need to do is a 3/4 to 1 gallon change a week or 1/2 gallon twice a week. I recommend 1/2 gallon twice a week. Be sure you get about 5 pounds of rubble live rock and not just a couple pieces. The rubble will have more surface area for bacteria and little tiny creatures that benefit your tank. Shrimp are also picky with water conditions so you will have your work cut-out for sure.
