"Assorted African Cichlids"

Why do stores throw many different species of Africans together and advertise them as "assorted"? Even the best stores around here do it.

I am going to add to this hope you dont mind..I was in a chain store tonight and they had convicts and "assorted" Africans in the same tank.. then another with "assorted" africans and some other SA/CA cichlid that I was unfamiliar with so I couldnt tell them apart.

Because most get them that way from the wholesaler. Sometimes they just don't have enough tanks dedicated for species tanks. And being that most Mbuna can live together....its an easy option for a retail store that moves stock fast and isn't looking long term. A lot of the wholesalers will send them as mixed africans because thats what they are....mixed.
