Atlantic Ocean Coral in Freshwater Tank Advice Needed!!

Greetings All- I just returned from a short trip to Florida. WHile walking on the beach, I came upon a large piece of dead coral. I was wondering if I could put it into my freshwater fishtank.

I would wash it off in warm water (no soap, etc) and then put it in. Does this sound correct?? Thanks!!!-

I might be inclined to soak it in freshwater for a while myself. Maybe even a Water/Bleach solution to make sure i kill everything nasty on it. Otherwise it should be fine. Might raise your pH some, just keep an eye on it.

Thanks for the advice. I will soak it in water and then maybe drop it in!

I think C-Man is right about soaking it in a bleach/water solution for a while, then let it soak in fresh water to make sure you get all the bleach off. Just make sure that everything on that coral is dead before it goes in your tank.
