I want to get my 20 gallon tank up and running before the summer hits. But my family and I are going to travel quite a bit this summer. I can afford to pay sumone to care for it, but there is no one relativley close to my house that I could trust to do it. We're going away for a week-2 weeks at a time. Do those "automatic feeders" really work? Is there anyone whos tried them? Thanks for your help!

I use an automatic feeder when I go on holidays also. I even use it to feed my fry twice a day (plus myself feeding twice when Im home). They work great because depending on the feeder, you set the times for feeding and frequency of feedings. You then also set the amount of food it 'dumps'. There are a couple of models of feeders and some can get expensive. I have a midpriced feeder called NutraFeed or something. Runs on batteries, can feed twice a day and thats all I need. You can get feeders that connect to air pumps to keep the food dry but a little more expensive. Hope it helps.

One more thing. If and when you do get a feeder, test it out for a week or two. That way you know at what setting to set the amount of food to 'dump'.  Also to see if it klawgs up.*thumbsupsmiley*
