All right, here they are. The little ones are awfully hard to get decent shots of though, so you'll have to settle for less-than-fabulous ;)

The "stage 2" polits

The "stage 1" saulosi

The "newborn" polits

And now for the test...the brichardi vs. the cylindricus! Ha. Which one is which? ;)

Nope, just polits in the bigger group.

Lol yes, group 1 are the brichardi. The test was actually to see who had read my other post...In another thread from last week or something, I had posted about the surprise cylindricus babies and how I had separated them into a plastic breeder box. I mentioned in another thread, that the brichardi babies were in with their parents. Just seeing who pays attention ;)

I acctually was thinking at first that the smaller fry might be cylindricus because i remember the thread saying you just had seen them. So i went back and read the post and saw the breeder tank thing. *crazysmil

Are Polits sexable at that age? Looks like 2 defined colors of fry.

hehe, I was just going by the eyes with fins look of the first, and the fact that the shape wasn't looking right for the second group to be brichardi :) Though now that you mention it I do recall your thread on surprise babies.

Lol tsk tsk guys. Pay attention :p

No, the polits are definitely NOT sexable at the size they are. But they go through different colour shades and tend to differ...some will be very brown, some start to lighten up and get a blue/white tint to them...naturally, you'd assume those would be males, but I've had two juvies now that I swore were males at about 2", and both turned out to be females.

Lol I don't think most people would be able to tell them apart at that size anyway. But yes...I can take awesome photos of bigger fish, but I've never bothered trying to find the best settings for the tiny, tiny little guys, lol.

I had a beautiful pair of brichardi a few years back that spawned so regularly you could set your watch by them. A good majority of the fry was already showing blue eyes and some blue edging to the dorsal fins by the time they got almost 1/2".

Fun fish, and the only one that I've happily keep as a species tank. Been thinking of getting some agian, but doubtful.
