Hi,
I just noticed a tiny fish, may be 4 mm, in the bottom of the tank. I think it is either a platy or a danio. I plan to get a breeding trap and some kind of fish fry food.
Any pointers?
Thanks,
Ami
Hello; Use some uncooked canned peas. Squeeze the insides from the peas. This is in a form small enough to allow the fry to feed on it. I also grind up dry food in an old coffee grinder that was too weak to handle beans. You can crush some shrimp pellets between two spoons and get it down to a fairly fine powder. The shrimp pellets will soften in the tank and some fry will be able to feed on that.
I also mash up a bit of catfish or salmon filet prior to cooking. For fry you might try to cut it in the smallest bits possible and then use the back of a big spoon to further mash the meat fibers into smaller sixe.
