after the eggs hatched, I cut the filter off. I am using an air stone so the fry won't get sucked up. How can I clear my water without killing the fry

Most fry are fine with a filter...not having a filter on will be more detrimental to their health...an airstone doesnt' really do anything. You could put a sponge filter in the tank or you could do like someone else suggested and fit a sponge over the filter intake.

Another thing, water changes can be detrimental to some fry. Especially with fish like rams. I did a 10% PWC in my 10G tank with the fry, and over half were wiped out. I've learned to keep water sprite and foxtails in the fry tank and just not do any PWC's for the first 4-6 weeks.
