I have a bunch of new baby platy's in my tank.
They are pretty tiny but seem to be doing well. I'm sure they are less than a week old.
I'm feeding them Hikari First Bites and froze baby brine shrimp. Is there anything else I should do?
eventually add spirulina to their diet. usually a good way is through crushed spirulina flake, but you can also buy spirulina powder and mix that well into their food. make sure their food absorbs the powder.
I feel spirulina is important to livebearers. you will see healthier and more vibrant fish.
that should be good enough. when they are juvies or adults, try adding spirulina flakes to the diet as you should not feed brine shrimp frequently. something like once a week to adults.
Adult platys can get pretty big. One of the two female mickey mouse platys I have is a tank. They were both identical juvies when I bought them and they grew-up differently. One is twice as big as the other.
There are at least six of them that I can count at one time. The tank is pretty heavily planted so there may be more that have survived.
They get out in the open and swim with the big fish. The Gouramis are pretty big but don't seem to go after them.
Just hoping I don't end up with too many fish in the tank.
It is fun to watch them grow, but if some survive from this batch, some will survive from every batch. Before long, you will have more than your setup can support.
