Bacteria in tank

I am new to the saltwater field...have only been doing this for about a year. i have a 29 gallon tank and it was relatively simple to maintain. Then I had to move...I know, dreaded every minute of it. Since that time i am having a bloom of what i think is bacteria in my tank on the sand. It is black, fine, and wispy. I have been to the local shop many times asking questions but all his suggestions are not working. Does anyone have some good info or advice for me to help clear up my tank. I have been told it can be from too much CA but also from excess protein in tank. Thanks for any info.

It sounds like it might be dinoflagellates. Try a Google image search to see if that's what it is.

What are your readings for nitrates, calcium, alkalinity, etc?

It may be cyanobacteria, reeeeaaaallly dark cyano hahaha. I have seen some cyano that looks black when in a clump. Is just a small bloom or do you mean, like the TANK is in bloom?
