bad outbreak

so over the past few days i have had a really bad outbreak of brown algae...im just wondering if this is the sign that my cycle is over is there another reason for the outbreak....is there anything i should do?...anything else you need to know?

if it is true brown algae (called diatoms) there really is not much you can do. They can survive in almost any condition. It is sort of a waiting game with diatoms. The minerals in your water need to reach a balance between silicates and posphorous (I think those are the two compounds- not 100% sure though).

It will go away on its own in a few weeks. Some snails will help with it, assuming the cycle is finished.

how longs the tank been up? how much live rock?

on 2-15 i added 24 pounds of live rock and on 3-5 i added 36 more pounds of live rock and 30 pounds of live sand on top of my regular aquarium sand so thats 60 pounds total live rock and all rock was precured.
