I am doing the fish cycle and I bought 3 red eyed tetras and the big one and small one get along fine, stay in bottom, etc... but the medium one is always alone in the corner or up top, whats wrong?
Nothing is wrong. Tetras only school when they feel threatened. Well that or they could be showing the signs of stress from putting them through a cycle.
GTM: I didn't think he knew what size tank he had
Anyway, I suggest you get 2 or 3 more tetras because they like it when there are 5 or more of them in the same tank. Maybe then the tetra thats alone will have a buddy.
Could be either shy or stressed, maybe just sociophobic.
Tetras do prefer to run in higher numbers.
I had a loose school of black tetras that liked to hang out near the bottom. Added a like amount of pearl danios, everyone got cozy with their own and began schooling at their appropriate depth.
