bak pak protein skimmers

i was looking for a protein skimmer--i had originally planned to get a seaclone 100--but in the future i plan to do a reef setup--so i wanted to get a bak pak skimmer because i have heard many give them high praise...i have to options--the bak pak 2 (for FO) or bak pak 2R (for reefs, doesnt have the bio bale media)...both cost the same--i was wondering if any one had recommendations as to which one i should get

The one without the biobale - it's just redundant biofilter mesh that you won't ever use anyway. Waht else is different?

i dont think anything else is different--i guess thats why they cost the same...so is this a good protein skimmer, or should i be looking at something else?
