Barb and fin rot

#1
Hello - our rosy barb seems to have caught fin rot - a few days ago i noticed she had a weird glow around her fins and they were rotting away. Which was odd because the day before she looked fine, the next day her fins were nearly gone.

I immediately pulled her out of the main tank (which has 2 other barbs and 2 bala sharks, 20 gal tank) and cleaned the water, which was a bit on the acidic side.

I have her in another tank now, a bowl actually as we have no more tank space. I've been using the Fungus Clear tank buddies and have been doing partial water changes to keep the water clean but i can't tell if she's getting better or not, fins still look bad. I can't see if the fins are "glowing" without having her under the main tank light. How can you tell if the fish is cured or if it is terminal?

The rest of the fish all seem fine, they seem a bit subdued (we think that barb is the female of the tank) The other barbs would constantly chase her around the tank all the time.

When her fins start to grow back, the new growth will be white. If her fins have stopped getting shorter, you will know she's on the mend. They will look ragged for a little while, but should grow back as they were.

Poor water conditions can contribute to fin rot, so make sure you're keeping up on your weekly water changes :)
