barbel regrowth?

I have a syno petricola from another guy's tank who's barbels are in a mess. Will they grow back?

Gennerally yes, they are just like finnage, if you want to get them to grow faster you can get meddications the facilitate fin growth

They should grow back, whenever I buy a bottom feeder they usually have stubs for barbels, but after a couple weeks they grow back and look spendid.

yes they should grow back but they won't bet the same size as if they had never eroded.to avoid barble erosion try a well rounded substrate or sand and keep up on water quality.also don't make the substrate too deep,just enough to cover the bottom and not be bare when the fish looks for food.btw that a nice syno to have

catfishmike - just to say I don't think they were eroded, I collected him from a guy who kept him in a tank with a couple of v large decorus and various cichlids (malawis, tanganyikans and convicts) - casualty of a war zone? his new tank has a sand substrate and slate rock caves.

thats good but unusual. better to have the barble eaten off than to think it's your tank.once i bought some paleatus corys and the first thing they did was get their barbels caught in a cheesy decoration
