barnicle questions

i got a new piece of coral (sun polyps) about to weeks ago. today i looked closely at the piece of rock and i noticed what looked like three barnicles. i havent had any experience with these before and have a few questions. are they going to effect my coral in any way? are they bad for the aquarium? if so, how can they be disposed of? any help would be great.

they are actually crustaceans, like crabs and shrimp. they are harmless filter feeders. when they filter feed, they stick their legs outside the shell to catch food. i've heard they are hard to keep alive though, but if you can keep the alive, they're nothing to worry about.

There really isn't anything you can do to keep them alive...they will either make it or they won't.
