Is beach sand ok to use as substrate for Malawi cichlids? If yes, is there any precautionary measures before adding it to the tank? Basically I want to use it as cushion before adding pile of rocks into the tank.
It would probably be ok...but you want to sterilize it before putting it into your tank because there is bound to be a lot of crud in it. I'd probably put it in a pot and boil it.
