i have a 30gal tank with 4 fire belly newts in there. i'm just starting with newts. the people at the lfs told me they like beef heart. i purchased a half of a real beef heard and cut it up very fine. they didn't really eat it so i gave it to my fish in my 55gal. the fish went nuts for it. the mollys, clown loaches and swords were after it. my african dwarf frog tried to swallow a piece that was bigger than his head.

anyways, is it safe to feed beef heart to my fish?

I usually feed my discus beef heart! It is fine to feed your fish beef heart HOWEVER it needs to be cleaned up quickly afterwards meaning a water change. Beef Heart will foul the water very quick and can cause lots of problems. I would recommend feeding beef heart right before your water changes.
