You can get the AC 150 at bigals for $14.49, plus $5.95 shipping would make it $20.44. They have the Whispers for about $13 for a 10-20g tank.

Everyone seems to like the AquaClears (AC) the most. I would spend the extra $1.50 for something that will last you.

I just saw that PetSmart has the AC 150 for $15.99 on its Web site, but I swear it was more in the store.

petsmarts online store is not connected to its stores, so the prices will be higher in the store then on the site, i agree on paying the little extra and getting the aquaclear, its well worth it

Get an AC150 or 200. It'll cost you around $20.

I just got a 300, 200, and a mini for like $50 (including s&H) total. If I went to Petsmart for the same thing, I would have spent $75.

My whisper HOB just died and I swear I didn't get violent and kill it...

As always I'll put in a good word for box, sponge or Under Gravel filters. They are cheap and work, but if you want a HOB --you want a HOB. Of course what I suggest all require an air pump, so if you don't have one of those then HOB would be about the same price.

i don't like sponge or ugf that much, but i guess every one is saying get a AC 150 or 200 so i guess that is my choice.... thanks for giving me advice on da AC

Get some kind of AC!!!!

I love my AC500....(to big for a 20gal) But get a smaller size. I am hoping to replace the filters on my other tanks with AC's soon.

The AC 150 would be perfect. Go for the AC200 if you have fish that generate a lot of waste (cichlids).

i guess i have to agree, the aquaclears are great.

on a 20 gallon, maybe a penguin 170? that is, if you dont like aquaclears.

man hearing all these good things about aquaclear makes me wanna replace all my filters... i got a 170 penguin on my 20 gal and a 280 emperor on my 28 gallon bowl front but i think i'm gonna jump on the bandwagon and replace them w/ ac besides ac looks so much better

the penguins and emperors are not bad though man. i run the emp 280 and 400 on my tank right now.

i would hesitate to replace all of your filters if they are functioning properly, but if you ever need to the aquaclears are definately my preferred filter.

this is not anything other than my opinion or observation, but it seems to me that the longer people are in the hobby, the more they start to lean towards the aquaclears over the other types of HOB filters. the cheap and easy maintenance seems to be the real kicker for the old-timers i suppose....

i know that I personally think that they are better for the money, and you cant beat the sponges that never die!

guess whaT? yesterday when i went to sleep my whisper filter kept making splash noises which irritated me =( i was like up the whole night, and i didn't know how to fix it but , but today i just tapped it and its doing a little better but keep making noises
