Best hair Algea killin Crab??

guys what is the best crab for killing or eating hair algea?/ and could lack of water changes help the groth of hair algea?? Ever sence I got my skimmer Caraline has been growing all over(very nice) but hair algea is slowly creeping back?? need a good clean up crew huh? I wll try to get some pics up.

Try the Sally lightfoot crab he is a eating machine and they are very cool and very fast moving. He actually jumps into the air(water) to catch passing food.

you also could get a sea hare, they do a number on hair algae, although they are not a crab but a nudibranch i believe.

lack of water changes will definitely cause hair algae to grow. even with the skimmer i would be doing 5g a week on that 60

i would try an emerald mithrax crab

urrrr, stupid WC's, ok cool, do you guys think that my lfs would have these crans?(emerald mithrax) (sea hare) (Sally lightfoot crab) I will hopefully buy some crabs and put them in my tank soon. And Keep up with water changes(urrr) lol, thank you guys.. let me know if you think I can get them...

In my opinion, ten red legged hermits go a long way....had a lot of hair alae once and these guys ate it all up.

I agree with sam, any kind of clean up crew will dramitically improve your hair algae problems, but the previously mentioned inverts will specifically eat your hair algae.

yes I only use bottled ( refill on the 5 gal jugs)

Second on the emerald crab. They also eat bubble algae, which I believe is their main concentration. My little guy is great about keeping the live rock free of dark green hair algae. Also, it's fun to watch them try to catch things out of the water column, almost like they're after a football.

hermit crabs are good, though they can be vicious little buggers to anything that gets in between them and their food
emerald mithrax crabs can get pretty nasty too...hmm
