What is the best type of lighting to use in a freshwater tropical community tank? When I first set up my aquarium I had a fluorescent light which looked kinda purply-blue and made the fish look really colourful and almost glowing. When that bulb died a bought one that supposedly mimicks natural sunlight and is better for planted tanks, but it makes the fish and plants look yellow and washed out. Can anyone tell me from experience what is the best kind of lighting to use?
