What is the best product to put into an aquarium to kill a variety of diseases?  What is the best type of medicine to use to put into your tank when you buy new fish?

None actually until you can diagnosie the sickness. Unless you have symptons, mediciating will only increase the stress factor. Medicating for not apparent reason will do more harm than good. The best 'medicine' is a clean tank, clean water. Getting new fish, use a quarintine tank, raise the temp to 90F, treat with salt and feed them excellant quality food with lots of vitamins. Dont forget aeration also! *thumbsupsmiley*

Mela Fix kicks butt. I use it for almost everthing new fish etc.... I have it in my 55gal right now. It doesn't kill plants or anything and it's safe to use with carbon. This product has saved the lives of several of my fish. Remember it won't cure everything but it may help prevent an aquarium disaster. One of my Mollies was on the brink of death with a servere case of shimmies, she ended up with a horrible case of fine rot and was swimming nose down. Salt at 1tsp per gal. and mela fix saved her life. Its a great product!
