best way to clean algea of rocks

my rocks are covered with algea. i take them out once in a while to clean with a toothbrush but no matter how hard i scrub, some algea wont come off. any good solutions?

Time for a better brush. Look for a small wire brush that's not too stiff, or maybe a stiffer plastic one. Check out places like Home Depot, Lowes, automotive sections, and places farmers go, like Tractor Supply. They carry all kinds of brushes. Toothbrushes are for teeth silly!

I use an old scrubbing brush myself. Anything with plenty of good stiff bristles would be good.

I have been told that when doing any type of cleaning to do it in the water you take out in a water change!!
