I'm planning on breeding my bettas soon. I have a 5.5 gallon set up and waiting...

I've heard that you want to breed younger bettas...is this true? How old is too old (for the male)?

Males can breed at almost any age.

Females are best between 8 months and about a year. Females tend to loose interest in breeding as they get older, and often get more dominant, which makes it harder on the male.

Okay...I figure the male (my roommate's) is about a year and a half. The female looks young enough...I'm not sure what age they sell them at, though.

Thanks a lot :).
