betta breeding

i have a quick question. do male bettas become more aggressive while they are caring for their eggs, or do they pretty much only chase away fish that get to close to their nest?

they shouldn't even have to 'chase fish away'...any male with eggs in a nest should be in his own tank.

but yes...that is often why females are injured during spawing...once the eggs are out, the male is in attack mode, regardless of who it is.
