Betta Feeding

I was just wondering about what to feed my betta. Is regular tropical fish slake food ok or does he actually need the specific betta food?

Try to feed him a variety of food 6 days of the week.Fast him on the 7th day.I have a good quality betta pellet for mornings and at night I feed one of the following...good flake with spirulina...freeze dried tubifex worms...freeze dried krill...and am going to try giving a mashed boiled pea on the 6th day before fasting ...Ive read this is good for them and anyway it cant hurt..sounds like a big outlay but you can buy a different one each week or so and it does last a long time.
