You dont need to have a heater for a Betta unless your house is REALLY cold. Give him some time to settle in and he should eat for you. If not then worry. But I would give him a couple days to settle in and get used to clean water. :p

Be careful! My room in my apt. has a leaky window, and when I got back from class, my room was about 15 degrees colder than the rest of the apt. My poor female betta was freeeezing, almost dead. The heater had simply given out. Luckily, she is fine now : ) I would reccomend having a heater so there is not much fluctuation in the temperature.
