Betta in a 15L Biorb?

I'm thinking about getting a second tank and fancy a Betta. Would it live happily in a 15L Biorb?
If so, would anything else co-exist with it?

Also, would 'squeezings' from my established filter plus a source of ammonia be ok to start a fishless cycle?
Pure ammonia is hard to come by, i saw a suggestion somewhere of a stocking with fish food left in the water as a source. Would that work?

From what I understand, BiOrbs are not betta friendly because they have a closed top with the water level is too high for the betta to breathe at the surface as it needs to and with the closed top, no air gets in for the betta to breathe (this is just what I've heard, I don't know for sure as I've never seen or dealt with the BiOrbs). Also, bettas prefer a lot of horizontal swimming space to vertical and it looks as though the BiOrb doesn't give a lot of horizontal swimming space (this I know for sure).

As far as having anything with the betta...in a tank that small (just barely over 3gal unless my calculations are wrong), a betta is pretty much the only thing you can put in there.

Also, does the BiOrb actually have a filter (not an undergravel filter, but an actual filtration system that runs the water through it) and a heater? Because contrary to popular belief, bettas DO need filtration and a heater. Oh, and don't listen to what the BiOrb website says about bettas. Males and females CANNOT be kept together!
