Hi. I have had my betta for over a year and lately he hasn't been looking too great. The past couple of weeks he has been looking like some of his scales are falling off and today when i was doing a waterchange i noticed that his left eye has a whitish spot in the center of it. He also seems to get bloated alot recently, though never for more than a day.

here is a picture:

what looks like a highlight in the center of his eye is the spot.

He lives in a 5 gallon tank that i just got a new filter for with some cories.
The nitrates are about 15 and the nitrites and ammonia are 0.

Is he just getting old?
Any advice would be apreciated.
Thanks.

Could be getting old - bettas only live 2-4 years and are usually sold already over a year in their life or even more. Could be sick...fish are living creatures and they get sick.

Either way, as long as you are properly caring for him that is all you can do. One unfortunate thing that you might have noticed about living creatures is that they have this really strange tendency to eventually die. All of them.
