Betta problem

Woke up this morning and saw my Betta has a little cotton looking thing attached or coming out of one of his fins. Not sure what exactly it is. Any ideas?

That sounds like a fungal infection to me. Is it anywhere near the mouth or gills (take a close look)? Are the fins fraying at all? Either way, I'd start treating with a anti-fungal medicine right away...good luck!

Hmm, just checked again and the thing is not there anymore along with the part of his fin where it was on. Must have fell off. It's not near the mouth or gills. I added some salt to the water.

All I currently have is Clout and a little Maracide. Should I use either of those?

Maracide is perfectly fine. Use it as directed for two weeks. Water change your betta's tank 50% once a week when using this medication.

The bottle says Maracide is for Ich, Velvet and other external parasites. Do you think, by what I'm saying, he has any of those (well, I know it's not ich)?

Just did another ammonia check and it was at 4.0. Rechecked and it was 4.0. Nitrite = 0. Looks like a mini cycle since I recently changed filters. I added salt, Tetracycline tablets (for the fin rot) and a ton of stress zyme. Perhaps the mini-cycle is the reason he has the fin rot (stress) ? What else can I do?
