betta scales

i notice today my betta (melanie) has got a few scales on her left side that are kinda dangling off her. she doesnt have any white spots on her she looks in good health. shes hyper as could be and eats as usaul so i dont really know. i just wanted to pass it around just to see if shes hurt or needs meds or something.

Is he a new fish?
Do you have any other info that might help identify the cause (ie ammonia, nitrite and nitrate readings?)
Also, what temp do you keep him at and are there tankmates?

My betta who I have had since November has a few scales recently missing on his head and back. I am not sure what it is from, but he doesn't look injured, so I guess it is just a mystery. I wouldn't worry too much, unless like Blue suggested you have some aggressive tank mates.

It could be that other tankmates are picking at her (not good) or she is bumping into sharp objects in your tank (also not good). Either way, some melafix and a bump in temperature to prevent infection won't hurt.
