Betta Shedding?

I swear, when I got back to my dorm Sunday evening, I looked at my betta and little flakes or dots or something were coming off from behind the little side fins. Maybe he was just stirring up something in the water. But it only happened for a min or two. Anyone know what it was? It's probably nothing but I'm really curious

I have never seen a betta 'shec' nor have I heard of it.

Fin-rot, where parts of fins fall off, is an illness that needs to be treated ASAP. If the edges are grey or dark or ragged, treat with beta/melafix, and if it does not get better in a few days, use a stronger antibiotic like Kanacyn.

No his fins look fine. He must have just been stirring something with his fins.
