As the title states, my boyfriend and I are looking for suggestions for suitable tank mates for my male Betta.
He's a laid back fellow, and has done well with tankmates before. Last week we put Green Neon Tetras in his tank, but unfortunately, as sometimes fish do, they did not make it (I didn't have luck with them the last time I tried with them so I don't know why I bothered to try again). We have an African Dwarf Frog in the same tank, and Rasboras, Tetras, and White Clouds, of which are in different tanks so we're looking for something different.
We want to stay away from Danios, because they are known fin-nippers, and we don't want Guppies, for three reasons, 1. I've had terrible with them, 2. my boyfriend had the opposite problem and is sick of them, 3. the bright colors might agitate my Betta.
Gouramis, dwarf or otherwise, would not work for the tank, and neither will Loaches because it is a 5.5 gallon tank. What we want are at least three fish that stay around or under 2 inches.
Any advice is appreciated.
